Motul vs Motul

The oil finder of Motul website recommends for my car's GM mid size diesel engine these 2 oils:

• SPECIFIC DEXOS2 5W30
• 8100 X-clean EFE 5W-30

Are the differences trivial? Should I go for the Specific Dexos2?

I would recommend getting whichever is cheaper or readily available. The specs are so darn close....

Both appear to have an actual dexos2 license so either one is going to be much like the other. As ollie notes buy the one that's least expensive and easiest to obtain.

Right on my man!! That looks like the Motorcycle shops equivalent here in the US!! Bang for the buck Motul oil is hard to beat.

Get EFE. It has multiple specifications.

Good question. And you could ask the same about the Shell range e.g ECT C3 vs AV-L and AB-L 0W-30

I remember reading from BITOG a while back that the Specific line allows Motul to get their oil to the shelves faster for new approvals. Instead of making an oil and waiting for Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, and VW to all test and put their approvals on it, they just get the one approval they need and put it on the shelves.
