Lol, this answer is just perfect.
So Motul 8100 is more than double the price if Mobil 1, PUP etc. and I don't remember seeing PUP brag about having boron esters which helps it performa amazing etc., whereas Motul oil will have all those shiny amazing things mentioned in its description. So i just presumed they were premium oil, along with LiquiMolly. Boy i was wrong
i live in europe.except finland and perhaps one more country, mobil 1 price is the same with motul's ones 8100 more or less.so if price is the issue, then they are. both premium.at least here in europe.
shining stuff? almost every blender writes something in their description that is shining.
Motul and Liqui Moly do carry some products with more expensive base stocks and formulations than say Mobil 1 or PUP. It also depends on the definition of premium. More expensive does not automatically mean premium. I think the people at Supertech think they sell a "premium" oil. LOL!
excatly. al the major companies have good and very good products.we can not generalise for the whole brand.except LM

,but then again its not a major one

.
Motul's reputaion aimed sky high when drivers learned about 300V .then they learned about the xcess 8100.but since then synthesis changed many times overtime for all blenders ,not just motul.but in their mind people still think these companies like premium, price helps in your country to justify that thinking.
we dont take mobil 1 as premium bcs. of its price. we just separate oils,in expensive and cheaper.shell helix 5-40 is an excellent oil with many fans here in europe and is cheaper than motul or mobil. xcess has a lot of fans here ,motul built a very big reputation thanks to that oil.amsoil and redline are way more expensive.but we dont call them premium, just more expensive,in fact we call them true synthetics, better oils(which is not true).
yes people here think motul is superior at some point, bcs of the reputaion they build at the past.
i dont know if it is premium or not, i know they use more group 3 almost in every product, good group 3 as edy said ,what i know is that the final product is very good stuff still..reviews show that..in fact here in europe 8100 and shell have better reviews than mobil 1 esp or any other oil.does it make them premium? no.
different culture.
The key is the SDS.
If the Chemical name has "Fischer - Tropsch, heavy C18-50-branched, cyclic and linear (and its corresponding CAS/EC number), then it's Group 3+.
Most of the 8100 line is just hydrocracked petroleum oil, Group 3, except the 8100-Power has Group 4 in it.
welcome HighHy21,you seem to know about chemistry.
