I disagree most of what you have said in this post.

The worst part is someone is actually following your non-sense you have stated is really sad.

What did I say wrong? I went on Motorcraft and Kendall's website and compared their semi-syn 5w20's. Motorcraft has 402 degree flash point, Kendall has 424. MC cold pouring -44, Kendall -38. MC viscosity at -30 degrees Celsius is 5,200; Kendall is 6,150. What is unclear about that?

I have a Ford Freestyle with basically the same engine. My general thoughts are that the engine isn't all that picky; large sump, low temperatures, fairly low compression and output. It's just not a very challenging environment for oil. Even going over extended mountain passes in >100 degree ambient temps, the oil temps barely hit 100c.

I used MC5W20 for the first 60K, PP until 90K, then either Toyoto 0W20 or Honda's 0W20 since then (now just under 150K). The only thing I notice is that the engine seems to turn over from a cold start a little easier w/the Toyota oil. Consumption is the same with all of the oils, about .3-.5 qt per 5K miles. Regardless, I don't think it'll make much of a difference. Change it regularly and make sure there's enough in there and it'll be fine. I'd worry more about changing the other fluids, particularly the ATF, brake and PS fluid--particularly the PS fluid, as these pumps are notorious for some serious howling.

Wow, that is a big help. Thank you for posting that. I'll keep an eye on the PS fluid. The owner's manual says the transmission fluid is good for 150K miles under normal use, but that sounds really long, so I contacted Blackstone about having the transmission fluid analyzed. Thanks again for your post.

The original Ford Duratec 3.0 V6 engine (without VVT) is one of the most reliable engines. I'd be surprised if the newer ones with VVT is much different in terms of reliability and oil needs. For shorter OCIs (by OLM or as recommended by manufacturer, I'd probably stick with Mobil Super 5000, an excellent conventional oil and lowest priced at Walmart, as I am not convinced MC is significantly better. You can certainly continue using MC if that makes you sleep better for a few bucks more.
