I took this filter off of my 1992 Crown Vic, full story can be seen in the UOA thread here

This filter looks pretty bad, but as far as I can tell, did not fail, no tears in the media that I could find, I think it did it's job under some pretty rough conditions. Happy to have it off the car though, it was not as stuck as I expected it to be

What's the date code on the dome? Has holes in the center tube, so probably a few years old.

Edit - saw the info in the linked UOA thread, so filter could be 15 years old. Please post the date code on the dome if it has one.

Definitely abused. What did you replace it with? The 820 is the most maligned Motorcraft on here but this one gets a Purple Heart.

If it didn't tear as the 820S is known to do because of wide pleating, then it survived. The oil looks close to a diesel oil c&p. In this case, (even if it did tear) the least of the issue(s) here. Hope your revival project works out.

I didn't realize they had date codes! Unfortunately these pics are from a week ago, the filter is long gone.

Looks good and some cleaning happened. What oil went back in?

Thank You

That thing is nasty. After you do a couple changes to clean it up and want a quality wirebacked filter. Check out the fleet guard LF16002.

Thank you for the recommendation, it seems like it is getting harder and harder to find good oil filters for any application these days
