I noticed that Ford lists oil filter efficiency data on their Motorcraft catalog web site. Motorcraft Just look up a filter using the "search a vehicle" feature and then click the i symbol in front of the filter number. That brings up a product spec box with the relevant data in it.

If I'm reading the info correctly, the FL-1A and FL820S filters are 80% efficient at 20 microns. Is that good?

Wix lists their cross referenced 51515 filter to the FL-1A at 2/20=19/41, and the 51372 filter to the 820S at 2/20=12/25. Looks like the Fl-1A is more efficient than the 51515 while the 51372 and 820S are comparable.

Roger..

Wix 51515 would be 50% efficient at 19 microns.
95% efficient at 41 microns. That's what the 2/20 means.

51372 would be 50% efficient at 12 microns. And 95% efficient at 25 microns.

The question would be...how does that extrapolate out versus 80% efficient at 20 microns?

Have fun...

Exactly! But in the meantime, if I had to choose between a filter 50% efficient at 19 microns and one 80% efficient at 20 microns...

I'll stick with Motorcraft filters on my truck!

80% of 20 um particles sounds pretty good to me! Seems to be a little better than the Wix numbers.

Thanks for the info on the Motorcraft filters BTW

my queastion is does the motorcraft beat the baldwin and wix.....i thought the wix was round 88% @ 20 microns, and the baldwin was round 94% @20 microns???
