I know aftermarket thermostats like Motorad aren't the best, but possibly a 140-degree thermostat might be useful in a Subaru

I'll let the others talk about the 140F but my stuck closed aftermarket rad cap cost me a head rebuild. I wouldn't trust a motorad unless it is a quick fix for an obvious bad stat in a beater.

Looked at a motorad stat back in the days, they were made in Israel but they look worse than the Chinese junk they sell today. The core seems to be way smaller than an OEM so you know something is not right.

I got a jeep one from the dealer. Inside the jeep box was a motorad. I returned it. I went across the street to ford and got one for a 302,351...same part as my Jeep takes. Was made in USA.

Motorad does offer a "premium" line. I honestly don't know if it's much better but it's considerably more expensive, similar to a regular Stant vs a Superstat

I just used one (premium Motorad) in an older Dodge because of the RA shipping/warehouse game. Maybe was a bad idea.

I only trust OEM but the thermostat for my 5.4 Triton is $50 from Ford. I went with a Stant, afraid of everything else. It is working good so far.
