Another Motorad 195° thermostat failure

Never buy anything motorad. I never had good experience with any of their parts, and if you look online, I’m not the only one hating on Motorad.

OEM thermostats are the way to go. Gates is the same garbage in my opinion. They don’t seem to last, and I always got temp fluctuations with motorad and gates thermostats within 3 months after install. They just get stuck or don’t operate properly. Then when I install an OEM thermostat, it always works very well just like the factory spec, and it works great for many many years.

Driving to work this morning. Heater isn't working well at all. Looks like the Motorad thermostats last about a year at best.

OE thermostat is no longer available. It's been replaced by a Motorad in a jeep box.

I'm finding that as well. I replaced the thermostat in my cavalier a year ago and if I accelerate quickly while cold outside I can watch the temp guage drop. Same thing for a hot day in stop and go. It climbs but doesn't seem to do well. Very disappointing as previous stant thermostats especially their premium ones were built like a tank.

I have never had a motorad thermostat failure in the past fifteen years. Granted, I replaced them when doing timing belts and water pumps on VW TDI's as Maintenance or when an OEM Thermostat failed, such as in a Hyundai 2.0 "Nu" and "Beta" motors or a Toyota 2GR-FE water pump failure as preventative maintenance. They all ran for several years without issue before selling those vehicles. Maybe it's "just a Mopar thing"?
A year ago I replaced the thermostat in my cavalier with what I was told was a premium stant at Advance Auto parts. It was a Motorad and is already showing signs of a weak spring.
