The only fail opens I've personally seen are Motorads and for whatever reason the failure rates are quite high. Something about the design seems particularly paranoid, and once they "trip" it's all over but the cryin' -- and no heat in CO winters
Does anyone make a reliable fail-open?
I've mostly come to believe it's a solution looking for a problem. I know there's an occasional story of an engine being trashed by a t-stat stuck closed, but I truly can't remember the last time I saw it.....? It's possible @97prizm is dealing with such an issue right now (I think we need more info)
