TallPaul,

Interesting that RL is mixing well with M1 in UOAs

Red Line, an advertiser, is making a name for itself as a source of all-synthetic motor oils, and this company, like Mobil, relies on big percentages of polyol esters in its base stocks.

Silkolene is not mentioned on this board but is Castor oil based as the Castrol B353

TallPaul Great article where did you find it. This is the kind of reading most on this board (me)should read to help them learn. There is no question all oil companys want to sell oil and Castrol has made one product for about everything you can think of (Start Up).We all want the perfect oil for the right engine so we try things that have worked for others in hopes it will for us.Terry wrote AMSOIL with Lube Control is a good combination for extended drain intervals. He with that statement has given me a great tip from one who knows. We know that Amsoil tends to thicken and LC seems to help so its logical.Does this mean it will work in every engine to many varibles to tell. The choices are many to find what works within your budget is up to you. Most people think the dealer and Jiffy Lube are best but thats not what this site is about. We have found many things that help us like LC or FP not just because their endorsed but results shown.A big issue lately is esters and seals will we ever know the truth perhaps not but its been exposed.I have to post a question because I want to know so keep the articles coming.

Nicely written article, refreshingly un-biased and objective. Thanks for the link Tall Paul.

I think Idrinkmotoroil has some nice UOAs posted here with one and two qts Redline mixed into M1. It would be interesting to see how it works mixed with regular oil.

Thanks. I'm not sure how I came up with it. I was trying to find some stuff on esters, maybe Redline specifically, and cleaning. Googled something like

motor +oil +ester +clean -amsoil

Probably had the word Redline in there too.
