I have a 13 Ford Edge 3.5 I need to replace the upper right motor mount. I was wondering any particular brand? I noticed Napa sells Pioneer mounts.. Anchor seems to be middle of the line.. What's your recommendations?

You ever see those videos of Pakistani dirt floor factories with safety flip flops? Thats where most ford aftermarket mounts are made I am pretty sure. Your OEM motor mount is filled with hydraulic fluid, the aftermarket motor mount? Filled with recycled water bottles probably.
Some things you want to pay triple the price and get OEM.

Having done a lot of engine mounts, I concur with everyone above on the quality of most aftermarket parts. They frequently have the strength of wet spaghetti compared to OEM.

That said, if they're easy to swap I've used the offshore mounts as it can be more cost effective in the long run. You'll just change them more frequently.

Confused a bit on "upper left" mount. The Edge uses three mounts for the drivetrain: Right, left (transaxle), and rear (torque strut). Side indication is always from the driver's seat.

The left and right mounts support the drivetrain; the rear mount controls fore/aft motion caused by engine torque. The rear (and front for vehicles so equipped) typically wear faster as they're under more stress. The left and right mounts just kind of sit there in comparison.

The right mount is hydraulic (fluid-filled).

What led you to the bad mount diagnosis?

It is the right mount, it's the left when I had the hood up. LOL, it's leaking.. that's why I'm replacing it.. I have to replace the valve covers as well. VVT seals are leaking for the second time., so I'm just going to replace the valve covers.

With the newer, redesigned valve cover that doesn't let oil into the intake, right?
Or was that a different year?
That was a year before mine. I'm having problems with the VVT seals. Not seating properly.. So the new valve covers from Ford already has them in there and seated..

Scott,

If it's an easy job (which most right-side mounts are), I'd say use an Anchor or similar from Rock Auto if there's a huge price differential. If it's only a 10-20 dollar difference, use OE. You'll probably have to re-use your OE bracket for aftermarket mounts.

All 3 went bad?
No. I replaced them because the shop doing the state inspection said so. As it turns out all 3 I removed where good, and the state police isn't interested in policing the scammers who run the shop because I fixed it myself. I stopped replacing parts that the first shop said needed replacing, and took the vehicle to another shop who easily passed the car, and said that it was a good car.

Yeah so usually when one goes it really snowballs into the other 2 getting too much force and beating.
Very often it's more of "while you in there".
I had my engine mount puke out the magic hydraulic fluid out of it and ran like that for months. That ate the other two of my mounts.

I been thinking I might as well do all three.. don't know if I could swing all Motorcraft brand.. I wish I could find a brand that wasn't made in China!!!🤔😒

It's not about China.
Most 3rd parties don't even bother with hydraulic fluid and random rubber they find.
Check edge and flex forums, nothing but problems with non oem mounts.
