A spot check on this inexpensive MC oil at 1000 miles (1600 km) on the oil. VOA included.
TBN not done due to the high cost of TBN analysis with Fluid Life. I don't care about the TBN number for the most part since the oil will get changed due to loss of viscosity or higher levels of wear metals long before the TBN is anywhere close to being depleted. I see the viscosity is already almost down into the 30 weight territory although some of that could be the Fuel. I sampled cold rather than hot (sorry about that).
At a mere $4 a quart/liter, this oil may turn out to be a good economic choice for owners who prefer to change oil at short intervals or who don't put many miles on in a season and want to change oil at least once per season (and not be dumping $10/quart oil in the process). And I want to see how it compares to higher priced "MC" oil - oil that I believe is often priced based on marketing hype/fear mongering, rather than actual performance. That comment does not apply to Amsoil and some of the other full synthetics that I know really are good products.
I plan on doing the next test at 2K miles (around 3200 km on the oil).
