Motion Pro Cable Lube Discontinued?

Someone on a KZ forum site called Motion Pro about the cable lube, and he was told that it's not discontinued, just out of stock. Take that for what it's worth...

Personally, I use regular old motor oil. Make a funnel shape out of foil or a plastic bag, and rubber band it onto the end of the cable while sticking up. Fill the bag with oil, and it will slowly creep down the cable. Wait until you see some oil come out the bottom side.

Regarding oil not being necessary, all I can say is try oil on an old cable, then come back and post here again. It makes a noticeable difference. It may not be needed on a fresh cable, but it does help old ones.

I've done this method before and I do it with new cables or if I have to get NOS or even used cables (nb: working with vintage bikes almost exclusively) that will be put on a bike. Otherwise, it tends to be too much of a pain to remove cables and re-route them again just for this method.

I oil my cables about once a month or so regardless of age.

No need to reroute, just disconnect from the hand control and oil, that's enough for most cables.

Recently got an old moped that could use a cable lubing so I will be doing that sometime soon. In the meantime, I did get a chance to try out the PB Blaster Garage Door Lubricant on some tools like my wire crimper that is ratcheting. Made a huge difference on those tools and it has lasted.

This is my go to cable lube. Available at any Case or New Holland farm equipment dealer. Used it once on the door hinges of my 2014 Ram and have not had to lube again. Tried every other type before and nothing seemed to work.

Ever try this stuff? I put this siht on everything (Harley, bicycle, OPE, ATV). Wear gloves!

Yes. Works great for cracked cables and yes it is messy. The issue is that it doesn't last very long.

Dri Slide was the previous one I tried, not cheap either! Initially worked well for my clutch cable, but turned grabby quickly. Then I flushed it out with the garge door lube. That stuff is great and lasts long!

Yeah, when I bought a few years ago it was about $20.

Warm enough that I can ride around a small amount. Lubed the throttle cable on this old Puch Maxi moped that really needed it and freed it right up. Works really well. Didn't even get crazy completely removing the cable and flushing it out. If it lasts longer than PJ-1 I'll be a happy camper.

Update to this. Still using this and another thing I noticed is that it has a self-cleaning ability as well. Assuming there's a solvent carrier? I've also used it for lubricating the pivot points on kickstarter arm and foot pegs. Any road dirt washes right out when you spray it. I used to use blue 3-in-1 for lubing these points (which I believe is just SAE30?) but this stuff is awesome. Thanks again for the recommendation.
