A hypothetical in the strictest sense. If you met yourself somewhere, would you consider yourself the most interesting person you've ever met? Not conceit, just a rather honest reflection of how you view the overall you. I consider myself pretty interesting, physical attributes notwithstanding. I have seen, done and know about (that I can legally admit) some pretty interesting stuff. However, I have met some fairly interesting folks too. Just being on BITOG is pretty intriguing in itself. Ah, the caffeinated thoughts we ponder in the early morning 😁.

Not even close. Both of my grandfathers were FAR more interesting than I.

Absolutely. We live in a time where just about everything is at our fingertips - information on the internet, I can book a flight to anywhere on earth and leave today. How interesting is that really?

My grandfather during the depression hopped around on trains from CCC job to job. He actually ended up working for one of the major railroads for years after - good at hopping cars I guess. He had interesting stories.

Similar. One immigrated to the US from Denmark, ended up fighting for the USMC in the Pacific (stationed in China) then became a farmer, multiple business owner, patent holder for breeding peaches & several other awesome things.

The other was an ace fighter pilot in WW2, also fought in Korea & Vietnam, retired a Colonel from the USMC & became a college professor.

This sounds like a question on a psychological evaluation? I have met a few people that thought they were the most interesting person in the room though, which sometimes is interesting to listen to them, for a while, make mental notes on how to not do that myself...
I do find it "interesting" how some people can be very happy living a local-centric simple life, and others need to almost die on Everest to keep themselves busy.
I do like talking to people about stuff they are interested in though, and the range of human experience is interesting. Usually I'll strike up a conversation when meeting new people while travelling or on the ski lift, which sometimes my kids find "embarrassing", but I think its good for them to meet/listen to some real people doing different things than their parents.

I wouldn’t exactly say I’m the most interesting person that someone would meet but I’m feeling a lot more confident in myself lately, ever since I started doing my walking tours in Niagara. I have always had an easy time making conversations and connections with people that I just meet, but now even more so I’m very comfortable speaking with larger crowds and keeping them engaged with the stories that I’m telling. I get a lot of good reviews from my guests so I must be somewhat interesting to them, and it does feel good 😊

Anyone who views themselves as the most interesting person they know is conceited and likely a narcissist, whether that high opinion is arrived at by "honest reflection" or not. How many people show up to audition for American Idol truly believing they are awesome singers only for the world to see how deluded they are?

There is nothing more overrated than sincerity. There are many sincere people who are sincerely awful or sincerely wrong. And just because a person truly believes he's a gift to humanity doesn't make it any less obnoxious or narcissistic.

Judging from how other people react, I could not possibly be more boring or uninteresting. I do things that interest me. These activities often don't interest others.

Here is a great example of what I mean. Charging a Electric Mower's battery with a 2 stroke generator. Funny to me, and a few others, lost on the rest of the world. :ROFLMAO:

One of those generators ran my mom's oxygen generator and refrigerator for 2 days non stop except for fuel.

If you already know who you are, how can you find that person to be interesting? I’m enamored by chameleon-like people who seem normal and then surprise you. I once met a mechanic who would talk to his tools when he was in a tight spot. Now that’s interesting!

Yes, I'm a narcissist who can't stand myself, so obviously I would be the most interesting person I have ever met and I will prove myself wrong......

That's probably the only person who would answer yes to that question.
