Most annoying vehicle to change oil?

The 2.5 sub filters absolutely sucked to change, and had to be cold or you'd burn your hand off. Not a fan of the 5.7 ram pickups over the last 10-15 years the oil filters right above the steering rack. GM 4.3's weren't the greatest either

In my fleet, the Ranger. Huge (FL-1A) filter on the side of the engine, parallel to the ground. As soon as I break it loose, oil starts pouring down the side of the engine. Did I mention the bracket right underneath the filter location? That catches oil and splits it into 2 streams coming down. Huge mess to clean up.

The Dakota is a distant second, only because it's easy to get to the filter, but it's at a 45-degree angle so as soon as you break it loose, oil comes out and travels down the filter until it hits the end and then will dribble off. Fortunately my drain pan is large enough that I can catch that stream and whatever comes off of the engine once I can screw the filter completely off of the mounting point.

My son had a 2003 CR-V and I have a 2003 Element. Both have the same K24 engine and AWD drivetrain. I learned to wrap a long piece of aluminum foil across the frame members below the oil filter to keep the CV axle/boot clean. I then reuse the foil to wrap up the old oil filter for disposal.
Yep. I love the K24 but the filter location sucks on our beloved 2006 TSX

The oil filter location on Briggs and Stratton V-twin mower engines is annoying as well. The oil drain isn’t so bad, especially the ones with a barb for a drain hose. However the filter on the other side makes a mess all over the mower frame and it’s really hard to get a drain pan around the mower deck and mounts.

Any 2019+ Nissan FWD vehicle. 20+ push pins to get to filter and plug.

All Cartridge filters accessed from below (Most Toyotas for a Decade). The worst being 4runner and Tundra with the added skid plate.

Most Fords since 2013 with the stupid felt like skid plate.

Any German vehicle without an extractor.

All vehicles with plastic oil pans/plugs. (Awful mess and uncertainty about replacement plugs/pan threads or lack thereof)

For me it's my 2017 Nissan Titan because the filter is completely hidden by the plastic splash shield and requires removing seven bolts and sliding the shield out from under the vehicle to access the filter. And to add insult to injury it drains directly onto the sway bar.

What's yours?
I concur with you. I have the same vehicle in a pro X4 version. I had to take off the metal skid plate that weighed about 50 pounds and handle it. It was a real job to even put it back on.

Maserati giulia.

You can't change the filter without oil running everywhere. No amount of rags will help. It runs right down the side of the filter housing, drips onto the skid pan and then on the customers driveway.

There's also a Porsche.... Might be a macaan with the filter on the driver side of the engine underneath. You can get the filter and cap loose but won't come out together. Those always get oil on me.

I have that same engine. Cut a bleach bottle in half and use the lower half to catch the oil It's flexible enough to fit anywhere or you can just hold it under the filter as it drains. No mess.

Ive had the same problem on the CRV. I haven't found out how to remove the filter without making a mess and getting drips on the driveway for a couple days after.
I bought a box of these oil absorbent pads and use a flexible funnel which catches the vast majority of the oil, directing it into the drain pan. But first, I shove one of these sheets beneath the oil filter area and on top of all the other car bits I don't want oil to get on. Oil filter is side-mounted.

Here's a link to a Honda Job Aid showing oil filter deflector tools designed specifically for different Honda models. Here's a YT video I found of one in action, but the one you need may be different since this is an Accord. Regardless, the deflectors come in different shapes and sizes.

My 2018 has a plastic shield but it only has 4 bolts . I used to have the oil changed at the dealership while it was under warranty and I think they left a couple of bolts out . Actually worked out well for me . I'm still trying to come up with a way to change the filter without making a mess . I'm getting better at it .

Honda not particularly difficult but every Honda we have owned is messy.

I am also not a fan of re-hanging belly pans. I find this to be the largest hassle of changing oil.

And the Toyota canister lid is not my favorite!

My Civic had a thin metal underside shield that was so flimsy that I just took it off and threw it in the trash. I don’t think it’s necessary anyway

I change oil in my SIL’s 2020 Civic and that flimsy aluminum foil “shield” and awful quarter or half turn fasteners….I swear the quality of this awful setup would make management at the worst Chinese factory blush.
