Yep, that "mud" is common when using the fine mesh screen refillables. You can purchase little paper filters that fit in some of the after market refillables and that eliminates the sediment or grounds ending up in your cup. I bought 6 refillables for around $11 and the filters are like 100 ct for $8. I've moved away from using the prefilled K-cups for several reasons and use the refillable + filter combo.
