Sorry if this has been covered, but I haven't been on the forum lately. I just picked up a new 2013 Jeep Wrangler with the new Pentastar motor. I was just wondering who made the Mopar oil filters for this motor. I have some NAPA Gold filters for it that were made by Hengst (never heard of them) and was wondering if the same company manufactured them for Mopar. Thanks!

Many of Mopar oil filters that I have seen in last couple of years are generally made by Purolator too Chrysler specs.

Hengst is 1 of several part manufactures that makes many parts for German cars. Hengst cartridge oil filter, especially the fleece filters, for Mercedes Benz is one of the best filters money can buy.

That's been the general consensus after looking around the interwebs, but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer yet. I'm hoping someone "in the know" might be ale to chime in. Thanks!

I would say its Purolator, although WIX makes Mopar for Canada. One day they will probably all be made by Magneti Marelli....(thru FIAT).

Mopars run $7 here in Ohio. Unless you are looking for a "Mopar-ed" Chrysler - buy the more efficient PureOne for $2 less.

I paid $6 apiece for the NAPA Gold made by Hengst. An earlier poster stated that these are good filters, so I'll stick with them until I have a reason not to, I suppose. Besides, NAPA is a ten minute drive for me and the closest parts store. The guys in there seem competent to boot!

I've used the NG/Wix with success in motor. I can buy them cheaper than Mopar, and the store is much closer than the dealer.
