My son gave me a 250 round box saying it was $60 on sale at Academy. I dropped by Academy today to pick up another box of 250 rounds and the clerk at the gun counter said you can save $1 per 50 round box by buying five 50 round boxes for $10.99 each…. odd but that’s what I did. Came out to 22 cents a round and $55 for 5 boxes. I understand it’s made in Brazil and It gets good reviews on the WWW so, does anyone here have experience with this ammo, good or bad?

Made by CBC in Brazil. They produce Magtech and are the same company that owns S&B. Shot thousands of CBC Brasil made ammo. They are a NATO supplier. I believe their quality is much better than a lot of the USA made stuff.

Monarch, depending on caliber and make (brass or steel) is rebranded stuff. Over the years,

Brass is more often times than not, in the past, rebranded PPU (Serbia)

Steel is more often in the past, Barnaul (Russia)

I would say since the war in Ukraine, those supply chains are different.

I have fired 1000s and 1000s and 1000s of rounds of Monarch of several different calibers, and it was good ammo.

Have fun.

CBC ammo out of Brazil is the real deal. High quality stuff. I have tens of thousands of rounds down range. No problems with this ammo. It’s every bit as good or better than American ammo. I’d buy it over Winchester white box or Blazer brass every time.

i will take cbc any day over win or blazer. all the recent win and blazer stuff i have seen looks like they did not do the final polish on the ammo. also , magtech tends to be loaded hotter than domestic ammo.

We are at a lull in ammo now. i suggest getting all you can as if they can't regulate firearms they sure can tax ammo . WA states new gov is going to intro a bill to limit the amount one can purchase in the near future

My son just bought a Glock G19 a few days ago. They had the Monarch 115 grain 9MM right next to the register on an endcap. 250 rounds for $59. He bought it. I'll let you all know how it goes, plan to go to range later this week or this weekend. I tried to get the single boxes while we were there, but cleaned out (I posted earlier price was $10.99 as the OP pointed out.)

EDIT: It's $49.99 right now. Wonder if we can go back with receipt and get the $10 back.......I may go back and get another box. Good price.

Academy Sports? Probably won't give you the difference back, just get more ammo 😁. I got 5 more boxes at the $49 price along with five 200 round boxes of Monarch .40S&W for $79 each. Hard to find good, cheap range ammo for the 40 recently.

Agree. May go grab some more. I have some Blazer Brass and some Maxxtech (probably 500 rounds give or take.)
