Is this the oil to use?

Mobil 1 High Mileage oils are made with a proprietary blend of high performance synthetic basestocks fortified with an additive system designed especially for higher mileage vehicles. ( Sounds like a mix of Group III and IV?)

Note 1 -- If your engine has excessive sludge deposits due to less-than-adequate maintenance practices, Mobil 1 High Mileage can help by reducing the sludge left behind by conventional oils. For severe cases of sludge, short oil change intervals (3000 - 5000 miles) are recommended for the first 2-3 oil changes as reduction of the sludge takes place. In cases of engine damage that may have resulted from poor maintenance, even Mobil 1 cannot remedy years of neglect.

I wonder how well this cleans?

I see it is not GF-4 so maybe more Zinc?

Also it mentions extra cleaning additive? Hmmmmmm

I thought I just read on here, all M1 but EP were PAO base. I am actually using the 10W 40 in an old ATV that weeps and drips with Rotella Syn 5W-40. It did reduce the weep and keep it off my outbuilding floor. It is a splash lubricated, wet clutch bike and I have had no shift problems.

I just put the 10w30 in my Kid"s Dodge, to see how it cleans and if it effects oil usage. Va3ux recommended it in older sludge dodge engines. Since he has 240K on his, I gave it some creedence.

They like to dance around the issue and not tell you what they use for base stock. If they used PAO as the main base I am sure they would mention it. Both Mobil and Valvoline support people gave me the run around and no good answer as to mix.
