I must be living under a rock. When did Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 (and 10w40) lose the API SL approval? Both used to be ACEA A3/B3 rated too.

I wonder if the formulation changed or if they just changed the bottle and list of approvals.

What's the API service category for that oil now? Isn't it backwards compatible anyway?
10w30 is SQ resource conserving according to the PDS. It can’t be A3/B3 without being API SL just like Castrol 5w30 Euro.

It can be SM, SN, SP or SQ and still be A3/B3, it just likely wouldn't pass the fuel economy requirements for GF-7 with the higher HTHS.

Phosphorus and Zinc are at 800/870 respectively so it's in the ACEA Cx category. The 40 grade will have a HTHS of no less than 3.5cP.

It makes sense if you think about it. You wouldn't want to reduce the life of a catalytic converter on a high mileage oil burner.
