This is the latest report on my Son's 2016 Honda Accord. The vehicle had 63,084 miles at the time the sample was drawn. The oil wasn't changed at the time but a quart was removed to make way for a quart of HPL EC30. Note that the vehicle had been driven only 10k miles in the past three years of post COVID work from home gigs. That recently changed and the vehicle should see 250 miles per week of commuting.

The first thing that I noticed was the Iron reading falling below Blackstone's universal averages. The second thing I noticed was a new high reading on insolubles. Every filter in the history has been a Fram Ultra XG7317.

Were most of the previous oil samples a 20 grade? A sign of "broken in" perhaps with the low fe reading? You'll know more the the next sample. Interesting results. 🤔

Yes - most of the earlier reports were 0w-20. Final viscosities with 0w-20 and fuel dilution weren't to my liking. It's going to be xw-30 going forward starting with 0w-30 HPL PPCMO in a few weeks.

Did the engine use any oil? What was the dipstick level?
There was no make up oil and the dipstick level didn't move in either direction. Usually I take the car for a 3-5 mile drive to warm and stir things up prior to the change. This sample was taken after a 40 mile drive which might explain lower level of fuel in the oil.

That will make a difference. 3-5 miles probably is just adding more fuel that doesn't have time to burn off before you kill the engine.

I typically do a mix of 5w-20 and add either 1 or 2 qts of 5w-30 in my ‘08 Accord. Seems to work great. I use a Purolator Boss PBL 14610 … again with great results. 1.8 ppm wear metals per 1,000 miles. 350,000 miles on engine. Hope you enjoy your Honda as well as I love mine. I’m gonna shoot for 600k miles before I put it down.
