This sample was taken when removing 1/2 quart of oil to replace with 1/2 quart of HPL EC30. This is a PHEV so the mileage on the ICE is not what it may seem. The estimated ICE miles are not more than 4500. Another thousand miles have gone by since this sample and a good 90% of those were ICE miles. Note that the owners manual calls for a 20k OCI for this vehicle. It's currently way to cold outside to perform an oil change. 0w-20 HPL Premium Plus is in the queue waiting for a nice spring day. The oil should have 15-17k miles by that time. Presently the oil is experiencing some severe duty with cold weather runs of less than seven miles.

This product does apparently have a lower Ca level & compensated by the Magnesium. Like you mentioned with the low ICE mileage no need to weather this cold changing it. I'm in the same situation & I'm going to wait for sunnier days. ;) Still good run even on EV too.

The prior oil was assumed to be Quaker State based upon the maintenance reminder sticker on the windshield. The vehicle is seeing mostly ICE miles recently due to low ambient temperatures. I conducted a test last year at 28F ambient and found the EV range to be only eleven miles. It's been 20F ambient the past two days so I haven't been running in EV mode.

11 miles total or 11 mpg?

At an ambient temperature of 28F with the climate control set to 71F the EV range is eleven miles. On a warm day without using the climate control the range can be 26 miles.
Wow, the climate control and cold temps really decrease the range on the batteries. This is regenerative EV and not a plug in hybrid right?

I wonder how close to the warm weather number it would be if you left the climate control off.

That sounds like an interesting experiment. Based upon what the car tells me I suspect that the range would fall between 16 and 18 miles. In cold weather the rolling resistance of the tires will be higher and the car is pushing heavier (more dense) air out of its way. And then there is the impact on the battery chemistry as described by the

Arrhenius equation

No - it's a PHEV with a 7.2 kWh battery.
Interesting, I always assumed that PHEV would have a longer range like >50 miles but this vehicle is smaller so not much battery room so this size is the exception. Thanks

However, This video below does state that it uses regenerative breaking also. Also states "Hybrid mode for 100's of more miles" I'm assuming that statement is from the Regen breaking.

This morning I made an attempt to find out. After 13 miles of driving in 24F ambient the car was reporting three miles of EV range remaining. The experiment ended there because I was able to connect to a free charging station.

While at my destination the power went out and a large diesel generator came on line. It was still running 10-15 minutes later when I returned to my car. Can anyone guess what wasn't energized when I got there?

Given a fully charged battery and a full tank of gas, which is 14 gallons, this vehicle has an estimated range of 560 miles. Last spring I managed to go 4 months and 2700 miles on a single tank of gas.
