Question still stands. Why do you think its factory for your car and not mine ??

The 0W-40 is factory recommended for my CAR, not any of my trucks. We use it in the high mileage ones (we own a fleet) that would use too much of the factory recommended 5w-30. M1 0W-40 is a terrific blend. If it's good enough for a 500+ HP Mercedes V8 then it's good enough for me!
I've also seen 300 degrees on road courses in my car, and the oil has been just fine per analysis.
I would imagine it's an SRT thing. They tweak the cars and have quite a bit of autonomy from the Chrysler hierarchy.
GM is very Corporate, and thus the oil recommendations are very similar. The LS7 is normally very reliable even if modded up a bit, I'm sure your experience is far from typical.
