I seem to remember someone posting about oil usage when using Mobil1 0W40 and no noticeable usage with other oils. Been using in my 2018 GoldWing ( Honda motorcycle), for the last 2 changes and notice it seems to use about 12-15 ounces between 4000 mile oci’s. Not a big deal just curious as No usage with other oils. NOTE. I realize this is the auto section. I am asking here because the GoldWing engine more closely resembles an automotive engine than a typical motorcycle engine, AND,no one but me is using it in motorcycles. Yes I did post my analysis of it in the motorcycle section and fyi the wear metals were almost non existent. Anyone else noticed this with this oil? Thanks.

i would probably need to repeat this experience for 10 oci's with two different oils before i was even remotely confident the oil itself is the reason for the consumption. very hard to control for driving conditions, weather, measurement errors, etc.

I have been using M1 0W-40 FS Euro in my '14 MB E350 exclusively, for the entire 60,000 miles that I have owned the car. I follow the MB 10,000 mile oil change interval, and I have never had any measurable loss of oil on the dipstick, even just before changing oil.

I also used M1 0W-40 FS Euro exclusively in my '07 MB SL550. I only drove it for 25,000 miles, and again, never had any oil consumption that could be seen on the dipstick.

This is the first time I have heard anyone claim that they have oil usage with M1 0W-40 Euro, and I definitely can't relate to the claim.

I never return to a oil brand, if it begins consumption issues in any of my engines.
I recommend another brand name next OCI.
I always try to halt the consumption, before it becomes inevitable that it's the engine's fault and not the oil. Try a few others before declaring a final verdict of victory or defeat.
There are other 0w40s out there. It's fun to tinker, when issues arise.

+1
Life's too short to stick with one oil exclusively.
Especially when it's not performing as expected.

I've used this oil in a lot of engines that cut the consumption in half or stopped consumption completely. Only one case have I seen it where an engine consumed a lot of it, and that was my nephews Dodge dakota pickup, tried a 10W30 last time in that one.

Must have been a senior moment. When I noticed the slight drop on the dipstick I thought I remembered someone posting that observation on here but I guess I was wrong. Anyway I will continue to use it and as I mentioned originally not bothered by it, just curious.
