One of the quickie lube chains claims to use new, not recycled Mobil motor oil for it's standard oil changes. It appears to be a step down from the Mobil Clean 5000. Does anyone have any input to how this oil compares to the other conventional oils-YB, GTX, etc?

nahh....instead of guessing, why not go there and beg for a small sample and then submit to Dyson labs for VOA testing? That would give you an idea as to how "close" it is compared to Mobile 5000

I think it is some bulk oil as it is not the Clean 5000. How much different is a bulk oil from non-bulk?
Just before Mobil came out with the 5000, 7500, 15000 mile oils it had release a Mobil oil that was one of the first to meet the GF-4 standard. Heck I think it was SL/GF-4 and then when the 5K stuff released it was SM/GF-4. I was using it as one of the few to list MS-6395 for my new Neon at the time 04/04 winter.
Should be fine. Like Pennzoil to QuakerState or Shell. Told it is a touch different but still a good oil.

Yes, the "drum grade" Mobil oil is very similar, if not exactly like Exxon Superflo. So if you have used Superflo in the past, youll certainly like the drum grade Mobil.
