Just noticed the new bottles of Mobil Clean 5000 with the adertisement to win a trip to a race (can't remember which one as I'm not much of a race fan). Anyway, not that the CF rating meant a dang thing, but I noticed that Mobil took it off. Perhaps they realized it really meant nothing with respect to a conventional oil. who knows. (shrugging shoulders)

CF seems like a don't care rating. If you have a diesel then you should run a modern diesel rated CJ-4 oil, not the ancient CF spec. It is also possible that you were looking at a 5w30 or 5W-20 bottles. According to the current mobil website, only the 10w30 and 10W-40 weights carried the CF/CD rating.

Nope, I've used a lot of Mobil Clean 5000 in the past 2 years and 5w30 and 10/30 were both SF/CF.... no more.

Mobil Clean 5000 5w30 meets:
GM 6094M
Ford WSS-M2C929-A
API SM
ILSAC GF-4 (API Certified - Starburst)

Mobil Clean 5000 5w30 is an ILSAC GF-4 energy conserving viscosity that provides all-season protection. It also meets requirements for diesel-powered vehicles where an API CF or CD oil is recommended.

With all Mobil Clean 5000s, you will get 16 percent more cleaning agent than our conventional oil, Mobil Clean (available only at installed facilities). It has extra cleaning power that helps your engine run cleaner than with other conventional oils — even with today’s longer oil change intervals. In fact, Mobil Clean 5000 is guaranteed to provide excellent performance and protection for all car engines for up to 5,000 miles of normal driving.

From the Data Sheet......
Applications

Mobil Clean 5000 5W-20 is recommended for vehicles which call for an API certified, 5W-20 viscosity grade engine oil such as 2001 and newer model year Ford automobiles, 1998 and newer model year Honda Accords, 1996 and newer Honda Civics and certain 2005 Chrysler vehicles. This unique viscosity grade should be used only in automobiles that require a 5W-20 lubricant and it is not recommended for use in other vehicles. This viscosity grade meets Ford WSS-M2C930A .

Mobil Clean 5000 5w30 and Mobil Clean 5000 10w30 are recommended for gasoline fueled automobiles and light duty trucks requiring an API SM, SL or SJ product or API CF or CD. They meet ILSAC GF-4 (Starburst Certification Symbol).

Mobil Clean 5000 10W-40 is recommended for gasoline fueled automobiles and light duty trucks where a higher viscosity oil is preferred or recommended and where an API SM, SL or SJ or API CF or CD product is required.

Before using Mobil Clean 5000 performance motor oil, consult the owner's manual of the vehicle for the manufacturer's recommended viscosity grade and API Service Classification.

From Mobil site they still list 5w30 as CF on the datasheet.

I guess there is a chance it could have been a misprint and accidentally left off the bottle.
