Just wondering if anyone has done any oil analysis's on either of these 2 oils and which one looked better. I've been using mobil 1 high milage full synthetic for a while now but the last few times at Walmart Valvoline is always on sale for cheaper. Never had a problem with the m1 but wondering if the switch is worth it.

I've used both and preferred M1. I never did a side by side uoa,but M1 seemed to run smoother longer,if that makes sense :P

I'm always a fan of sun power, it's a free energy source. Mobil 1 is not a free resource.

Synpower is good stuff it will do fine, and has shown good UOAs. But if you need a comparison:

1) perform UOA on Mobil1
2) change to Synpower, drive same distance
3) perform UOA on Synpower

Then you'll have your semi-scientific answer.

Let me guess ... less Fe on Synpower UOA?

M1 might be a better deal when the XOM rebates are in effect (like right now), you get something like $10-12 back on a jug.
Have never noticed a Valvoline rebate, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
My last purchase came down to M1 vs. Valvoline Full Synthetic 5W30, ended up with the latter somewhat out of curiosity (never used that brand before) and somewhat because they publish more complete specs than XOM online and most of them looked pretty good for that grade. Cost me a few bucks more in the end since I won't be getting a rebate, but I guess I also don't have to spend ten minutes online applying for it.
It got down to about 20F the night before and I had a slow crank on startup that was more typical of a temp well below zero with the other oils I have been using the past few years (mostly M1, Pennzoil Gold for the last fill). Maybe my almost new battery is getting weak, but it was fine last week in colder temps with the Pennzoil...guess maybe the ADBV is wonky in my new oil filter and it gave me a somewhat "dry" start. No big deal, but I made a mental note of it...wasn't planning on using the Valvoline for hardcore winter changes as it did not have especially impressive cold specs going by the Valvoline PDS.

My 2012 Nissan Pathfinder V6 seems to prefer the Valvoline it seems the motor runs quieter if that means anything?

They have both worked great in my Corolla. Currently its Valvoline Full Synthetic with Maxlife because that is what was on sale.

Most of the valvoline rebates are for items, not money. Free hat, gloves, shirt, etc. They even had a transformer "toy" called Valvotron last year.

Dunno. I'd like to see the comparison as I'm considering Synpower down the road.
