Currently using Lucas Red & Tacky and some Super Lube grease with Syncon (Teflon) for various auto and home use . The Mobil 1 synthetic grease is of interest because it is synthetic - your experiences with using the M1 synthetic Grease ?

I have used this stuff in trailer wheel bearings for a few years with no issues. Twice used it to repack the bearings and spline in the center axle disconnect in my 2006 Trailblazer. Worked perfect as it still functioned fine in -30c ambient.

Only issue was it was more prone to oil separation. Never caused bearing failures but was merely an annoyance.

we used it where i worked (now retired) ,the mobil 1 separated a lot and tended to run out of some bearings and grease gun even after the plunger was released , then we used Schaeffer's #274 and Lubrication Engineers Monolec Multi-plex ,with much better results,at home I use Mystik JT-6 semi synthetic (blue color) grease with stellar results.

I have a 1lbs. tub that's 24 years old. No separation and I use it to lube sway bar bushings, pistols and even a front load washer beating that i replaced.

I have the Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease, and have used it for years. But I think the Lucas "Red N Tacky" is better, in that it adheres much better because like its name say's, it's very tacky, and it sticks to the applied surface much better.

I doubt there is enough difference in their lubrication qualities to matter in 99 out of 100 applications.

Used it many years.
I started putting it on the plastic gears in garage door openers. Have 3 & replaced those gears seem like way to often.
Haven’t change any gears since start of M1 grease.

When in the store, I remove the 'cap' and look for separation.
The Mobil 1 (years ago) did have oil under the cap.
Mine is the one pound tub. It has a plastic snap on top after you open it. Out here in the Summer there is a large puddle of oil on the top that has to be mixed in.

I don't hold that against its quality, as every brand of grease I've ever tried separates out here in 110+ degree heat. They either separate or else turn into soup.

Oddly, M1 separates out when it’s sitting in the tube for a long time.

So I don’t use it in tubes anymore.

I use AMSOIL in the grease gun.

But I have a 1 pound tub of Mobil 1 grease that has sat on my workbench, and I’ve used it to lubricate M1 Garands for at least 15 years. It hasn’t separated out at all, and I’ve used maybe a 10th of it.

I reckon I’ve bought all the Mobil 1 grease I will ever need.

It’s not that Exxon Mobil doesn’t know how to make synthetic grease, but yes, it’s a dripping mess when warm. I went to Motomaster Synthetic grease which at the time of my last purchase was made by Citgo.

I've used it to lubricate electric motors and other higher speed bearings and it does a good job. It does separate and leak out the grease gun so I switched to lucas rt and that doesn't become a mess and still does a great job for bearings.

Everyone else has said it already but I have had the same experiences.
Too messy leaking out everywhere.. dont care if its the best grease.
I now use green grease mostly in my tractors. and my utility trailer.
1 tube lasts me a year so $$$ isnt very important as long as I dont have to order a case.

Used it for years but I'll agree with the others, it can be a "drippy" mess. I put bags around the plunger on the grease gun to catch the occasional drip.

I have the M1 tub as well. No separation that I can see.

I have had Amsoil fancy (series 2000 or something) grease separate and make a huge mess.

Knock on wood, no issues with Schaefer’s or John Deere Polyurea. Probably both ticking time bombs…

I have read where firearms shooters mix the M1 synthetic grease + M1 5W30 synthetic oil to the consistency they are trying to achieve for barrel lugs , bolts , slide rails , etc.
