I was in Wal-Mart and looking at the new Mobil 1 extended drain 15,000/1 year oil. Noticed that this oil in 5w30 and 10w30 was not certified for ILSAC GF-3 or GF-4 nor was it rated for SM. It was labeled for ACEA A-1/B-1/A-5/B-5. Why doesn't it meet the SM and ILSAC GF-3 or GF-4?

Thanks,

westex

GF-4 especially requires lower additive levels. Mobil 1 Extended Performance probaly has an additive level that is too high to meet GF-4 and maybe even GF-3.

The lower ZDP additive levels are done to protect the catalytic converter in vehcles, soon manufacturers will be required to warrant them to 120K.
