So I bought 3 bottles of Mobil 1 75W-140 and put them in the rear diff of our truck. When I was cleaning up, I noticed one of the bottles had a 75W-90 label on the back (75W-140 on the front).
I called the Mobil this morning to explain the situation and the guy acted like I was lying to him. He kept asking where on the the back label it said 75W-90, like in paragraph on the bottle or what. I told him "In blue it says SAE 75W-90". He still didn't seem like he believed me and asked me to e-mail him a picture of the bottle and they'd get back to me.
I waited all day and never heard back so I contacted them again around 6pm and that guy told me the department I e-mailed them to was probably closed. So I asked him what department that e-mail address was for, and he told me he didn't know. Then I asked him if it was in fact 75W-90, if it would cause a problem in the immediate future. Again, he said he didn't know.
They've been less than helpful so far.
So does anyone know if mixing two viscosities like this would cause a problem?
Do I really need to drain everything out and start over?
