Guy on the ROC had the aniline point tested for ESP 5w30. Result - 119.4. Not really sure what that tells you about how good the oil is. They don't seem to be impressed by this current formulation so far. Suspected LZ add pack.

The good thing is it still meets C30, so it is of high quality.

It is Infineum add pack for sure. Z below 700ppm as well as P.

ESP 5W30 has lower ZDDP. It is different additive package in the latest ESP 5W30 version.
Last product guide was 2022 that I've found. Looking at the latest 2023 sample from the VOA list it shows the SP 5w getting more magnesium & lower Boron.

Mobil stated that grade of ESP was "Recommended" for Mercedes Benz dealers on their product guide. Interestingly it gets the same P and Zn as the 5w. But, as you already know, it seems to have different base oil ingredients (based on VOA oxidation values). IDK what's up Mobil's sleeve or if that grade would pass ILSAC but It doesn't seem like it will be since they already have the AFE 0w-30 GF-7A. I wonder if they'll get back to me.
Like you I’m thinking this is a labeling mistake. But I don’t know all the “loopholes” in GF-7A either.

XOM is very punctual with approvals.
As for ILSAC, no, that HTHS is too high to negate with additives alone.
Not sure which grade you're talking about. The 5w-30 European oil shows the ILSAC starburst on the bottle & Mobil is "Recommending" for C2.

I think new version started in 23/24. Something like that. Definitely different additive package as ESP 0W30 is not API certified due to phosphorus levels (not sure is it API SL, could be).

Seems you've put in a days worth of work today... :ROFLMAO:
Seems you put in way more on nothing that changes any destiny with this product - when folks buy “Euro” - it’s bcs of the stringent OEM approvals …
0W-30 on my shelf to be used next month in a TDI motor …

Yul Brynner says it's a puzzlement. Knowledgeable "Euro" oil consumers don't give diddly about ILSAC and API ratings anyway.
I just ordered 2X5L jugs of Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w40 this evening to bump the stash to 14 jugs.
Now I'm done. Drowning in HTHS so good for a while🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️🤣

I see that you're getting upset that I've posted this topic...

Does a mislabeling mean anything ? :ROFLMAO:

The whole point is to shed light on the curious nature of why it has the starburst on the front when ordinarily we don't see that on any Euro 30 grades & may be a potential oops by Mobil. You seem to put in way more of nothing in your responses to why this is either mislabeled or doesn't have any other legitimate statements of meeting ILSAC like it claims. If you're not interested in this topic or hearing Mobil's response why bother with destiny? 😅

So a "Knowledgeable Euro" buyer won't care if their oil is mislabeled? That's Shmartness right there! :ROFLMAO:
