Take a look at the ILSAC Starburst on the front of the European ESP 5w-30 1 Quart jugs.

No mention of meeting it on the back or online. 🤔

Well according to the API, it isn't. ILSAC oils with the starburst are also inherently "resource conserving", but the API donut lacks that additional text in the lower section. Being an ACEA C3 oil with >3.5 HTHS, it most certainly couldn't meet ILSAC's RC limitations.

Still, doesn't explain why they have the starburst on there

I thought I read that there was a way for an oil to be ILSAC GF-7A without being Resource Conserving.

But, I can't find that anywhere so I won't say it.

Interesting. Never noticed that Mobil 1 Supercar 0w-40 doesn't have an API certification.

old bottle?
"Note: The new GF-7 standards become the only basis for the API Starburst starting March 31, 2026"
edit: that doesn't make sense either as they were not gf-6.

Perhaps they haven't updated the API directory. The label on the Mobil 1 website also shows the starburst for the 5w-30 it is the only one of the ESP oils
If it is fully licensed, it should also have the RC version of the API donut as having ILSAC GF-7A would certify it as SQ-RC

Thats an API starburst
It has API rating. The Donut is on the back. The starburst is alluding to API [SQ].
It does not, however, claim ILSAC.
Yes, It appears this information has been cleared up. That is an API logo but the Starburst is indeed meaning "ILSAC Certified".

It's the new API SQ & newer green color on the gray bottles. Funny thing is it doesn't have the same starburst on the 5 qt jugs. I had a conversation with Mobil today about this & will update if I hear anything. Previous ESP versions never met ILSAC I do know that much.

It's on the website though.
