I see new 1L bottles where I am in Canada that have the SQ rating, but the bigger jugs in stock still have no API rating listed.. any idea on a formula change or if its the same stuff now showing SQ rating?

Planning to use in a 1.5T Honda L15BA Engine, Just worried about the LSPI stuff.

In case I grab a bottle and they only have the one with no API info, wanted to make sure nothings been changed.

Any Mobil 1 ESP oil that you buy will be fine, do not worry about any API rating or whether it is SQ or any backward rating. SP or SQ does not matter.

Formula hasn’t changed. Already passed SQ.

I would like to point out it is not "API rated".
Let us realize something here, this API Rating thing here is worthless. If it really meant something we would not be going to Euro Oil's and then to oils like Valvoline Restore and Protect and HPL!

for a moment I thought "we have lost ESP, it lost it's ZDDP"
thanks God you are right
yep

I was just correcting the previous posts that said it was API SQ, nothing more.

Although an easy solution if you want an actual "API rated" oil would be to use ESP 5w30.

What @Brian123 and @Glenda W. said. Thread 2 and 3.

Two things to consider are the revision code on the back of the jug, 6925, is unchanged and 0w30 still doesn't claim BMW LL 04, likely due to too high of oxidation value from an ester Co base. Speculation on the latter

Don’t worry. Has MB229.51/52. All MB approvals have LSPI test.

It is. Ester is 2-3%.
Also, BMW requires certain % of Group III. It doesn’t have as majority is PAO/GTL/Ester.

Old bottle didn't mention API at all. But Mobil 1 did list it on their website spec sheet about meeting the API reqs

Why phosphorus over the limit prevents them to get API licensed? What is the problem/benefit from too much phosphorus?
