Mobil 1 ESP 0W30 API Rating

Old bottle didn't mention API at all. But Mobil 1 did list it on their website spec sheet about meeting the API reqs
It passes the engine test portion of the license requirements but not the bench test. It's largely irrelevant especially in light of that fact that an API license is also largely irrelevant for this product.

I would like to note I do not intentionally mean to post any information that is incorrect. If I see something that makes sense to me I'm inclined to share the information. My comment on the potential lack of ester in correlation with BMW LL 04 was that I understood that BMW has a strict cap on oxidation, and an oil with even a small amount of ester Co base is going to have a higher than allowed virgin oxidation value. If that is incorrect either partially or completely I certainly welcome clarification.

My comment regarding the revision code comes from an understanding that Mobil uses a four digit code, printed on the back of the jug, that is assigned to a particular formula of a given product, and if that code remains in unchanged then so is the formula. Same applies to this as to the above. I'd like to be helpful. Not trying to further confuse anything or intentionally telling people the wrong thing

Why phosphorus over the limit prevents them to get API licensed? What is the problem/benefit from too much phosphorus?
Phosphorus is an anti-wear and antioxidant additive. It’s a component of ZDDP and works in conjunction with Zinc.

If burned in very high quantities yes.

I’m talking more than a quart per 1,000 miles quantities.

Isnt one of the ESP advertisements that it “protects emission system”. Ive never seen other oils advertising emission system protection. Interesting
