High iron and copper. I hope it drops in the next 5K...

I don't like the the Fe. It's M1 but it's too high. Run it again, resample. If it doesn't come down, switch to PP or Amsoil. .02

The engine is still fairly new, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Besides, this engine tends to have higher FE numbers period.

That's what I'm thinking.

A possible good, high cost experiment would be RLI 0w-20. But give it some time first. IMHO.

Not many short trips; it's usually driven at least 10 miles one way. Less than 10% of the mileage is urban stop-and-go. I DO utilize the available power, but the engine rarely sees full throttle for more than 2-3 seconds. In addition, I always allow the engine to run at low or no load for at least 30 seconds before switching off.

MC, some oils handle fuel dilution better than others. I personally feel that if you have fuel dilution issues, or do mostly short trip, you are better off changing the oil out more often. However, RLI oils would be a good choice as well as PP/Amsoil/Valvoline.

I may try the Ams 5s30 3000 series next time in mine given its higher detergantcy and HTHS to see how it does with fuel.

As opposed to what?

My iron fared quite a bit better with PP-5W30 at about 12.5k on engine and 4k on oil, very similar driving habits. I recommend it.

Turbo life.
maybe

Is there a reason you are using 5w-30? I am using 5w-20 in my speed since the manual calls for it.

You might double check the owner's manual if you really do own a turbo charged MazdaSpeed.

I hope my first post didn't sound snotty. I was just wondering since it seems like lots of Mazada 2.3L DISI owners are using 30W instead of 20W. Perhaps I'm missing something.

My manual specifically states that the turbo engine requires 5W-30.
