Hi all, just thought I would post my latest oil sample from my Nissan Titan. Temperatures ranged from freezing to mid 90's. Truck was run extremely hard seeing redline literally hundreds of times and I had it dynoed on this oil which revs were several hundred above red line. I know I'm very impressed with the results but I would like to hear from the professionals here on this awesome site.

This truck runs Nissans VK56 engine which is a 5.6L, all aluminum, 4 cam V-8....I have a Volant cold air intake on it along with a flowmaster exhaust system.

Thanks,

Dale

With that much redlining, it looks like Nissan makes some pretty good engines! How does the rest of the truck stack up? The rest of their cars?

This oil has the GM LL-025 spec. Opels that call for this oil have recommended OCIs of up to 18K miles or 2 years per onboard oil life monitor.

So I'd say 5500 miles was just gettting warmed up...

I absolutely love this truck!!! It's hands down the best I've ever owned. I'm not sure of the rest of Nissans offerings but anyone I talk to that owns any brand of Nissan usually loves them.

I bet your right, I really don't want to exceed the 7500 mile mark until it's out of warranty so until then I'll probably go up to the 7500 mark.

Yes, the oil and this engine seem to be a great combo.

Gonna post this in the truck section of nissanforums.com

PS - This oil or M1 0W30 are probably what I'll be using this coming winter in my 2.5L QR25DE.

I don't post on the nissanforums site but your more than welcome to do it if you want.

I think it's an excellent sample considering the way I run this engine, which is wide open most of the time. I've got the Mobil 5W-40, truck and suv oil in it right now but I think I'll be going back to the 0W-40 after seeing these results!! And to think Blackstone was raving about my nissan oil filter which is a lot smaller than a coke can. Go figure, that little filter packs a heck of a punch.....

this is a good UOA. I'm thinking of getting this truck someday. I'm curious with the M1 0w-40. what's the manual recommendation for viscosity? thanks

Great UOA.

1/2 ton V8 trucks have become the new hotrods. Have you had the truck dyno'd since you changed the intake and exhaust? I bet it's quick.

I've owned Toyota trucks for 21 years but I have to say Nissans are more appealing right now.

Great report. I just picked up 7qts of GC 0w-30 for my titan and will be performing UOA's. I've got a lot less miles though so it will be difficult to compare. Looks like the intake did just as good if not a better job than the stock airbox which is great to see, espcially considering the h.p. improvements you saw on the dyno with it, guess i'm gonna have to order one now. I too love my titan, the thing is unreal, good thing you didn't mention your dyno numbers jetforeman, it would really ruin the day for the ford, chevy, and espcially the hemi guys.

it recommends anything from the 5W range on the low end to a 40W on the high end. Some time ago I tried M1 10W-30 and had a bunch of start up clatter, enough so that I drained it out after just 500 miles. I'm not sure what was up with that but I do know that the clatter is not there using M1 5W-30 and the 0W-40.

I had it dynoed with the intake but haven't since the exhaust change. It's putting out some pretty impressive numbers to the rear wheels!!! Like 270hp+ and 310tq....and it put out those numbers on an 87'F day with 98% humidity. I'm anxious to have it done on a cool dry day.

Thanks Buster, make sure to drive one AFTER you drive the dodge, I've got a feeling I know what will be in your garage.......

Sounds like a bad ADBV on the filter. Did you change the filter too? 10W/30 should be thicker through most of the curve (if not all) than the 5W/30.

Nice report and Nice Truck! One of my possible choices for my next vehicle is the Dodge Ram or this truck.

Factory powertrain warranty is 5 years, 60,000 miles on Nissans. I almost forgot that until I looked at my warranty book! I guess my strategy is different, I'm doing the bare minimum (7500 mile dino oil changes) until the end of that warranty, if I still have the car, then I'll go with really long synthetic oil intervals. I'm using Lube Control to continue cleaning the engine since my Altima was a rental car in a previous life.

I like this oil . It's a different animal in the Supersyn line-up noting this is not the only report with low solids . Other engine designs using this oil have simalar results and obviously use different filters . A search will reveal what I speak of .

I think there is a Cow Magnet in every bottle
