MMO increased valve noise

Note that it is harder, and more expensive, to attain in Canada, so I prefer to ration it for the one season usage when it can best accomplish multiple purposes. To that end it'll be an every winter OCI additive for me.

How much do you normally add? I'm thinking of doing the same thing to a friend's vehicle.
 
IMO winter is the best time to treat an engine with MMO. I've been doing it for many years. Just the added benefit of the easier cold cranking makes it worth it.

If you really live in a cold climate you'll notice the difference in the ease of cranking the first cold spell. If your sump is 5 qts or more adding a qt of MMO is what I add. Even with a good synthetic oil I notice an improvement in cold cranking with the addition of MMO.
