Because all that has been "shown" is that it does no harm. Where is the solid evidence "proving" it does anything? A lot of people "want" to believe that MMO works because they paid for it. Admitting it doesnt work is like admitting one was wrong and made a bad decision. I don't know if you noticed but cantankerous old men (big MMO advocates) are usually pretty prideful and refuse to be wrong.
I'll give it the benefit of the doubt with regards to freeing sticky lifters. Enough people have claimed that, and it is a pretty audible difference, that I am OK with saying that much is true.
There is no evidence showing before and after pics of MMO cleaning anything. There are no before and after compression numbers showing MMO freed up/cleaned ring packs. All there is, is a bunch of people using it w/out problems. There are also about 1000x more people using cheap dino w/out problems, too. Does that mean cheap dino is better than it is with MMO?
It is great that people use it and are happy. Some people want to see actual results before putting money into it. That is their right.
Personally, I have run some tests and it doesn't seem to do jack squat. But I'm still finishing up and hope to find something of value other than a hole in the wallet.
What are you testing it in and what are you trying to resolve? I've seen before after compression results from other products, and quite honestly all I saw were #'s written on a page, for all I know they could have been made up, along with test results. Unfortunately this is the internet and all info has to be taken with a grain of salt.
I wish digital cameras existed in the day I had engines apart to show before and after MMO results, that would set a lot of this to rest. Freeing up sticky lifters is something MMO is quite good at, so it would appear to the guy that doesn't tear into an engine that it is cleaning something up, if his lifter noise stops.
As I said this is the Internet, and you have to take any and all info with a grain of salt. I've tested one of the most popular engine cleaners on Bitog, as well as MMO and for me MMO worked better. Several other members have contacted me via PM stating the same claims. Others have different opinions, that's OK too. In the end we share information and hopefully people process that info and make their own choices. Then after that hopefully they share their observations here to help others out. JMO
Edit to add: People using MMO should use it as directed. While adding a pint of MMO 500-1000 miles before an OCI does some cleaning that is not how the product was intended to be used.
