Two or three factories pump out most of the major brands. Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, it’s all the same stuff. Even Kenmore before.

I've never worried about it. And luckily, it has never mattered to my wife either.

I have always bought appliances based upon quality. So the brand of dishwasher doesn't necessarily match the stove and fridge.

The only people who think that brand matching matters are the brands manufacturers themselves. Although my LG high efficiency washing machine was a paperweight, the matching drier is ok so I now have a Speed Queen / LG washer drier combo. In the kitchen - Kitchenaid dishwasher , Westinghouse cook top, Kenmore oven and LG fridge. All have same finishes. We buy what has the best reviews and just go for the matching finishes.

If you're building the house the builder will use any appliances that you are paying for. Builders do get manufacturer kickbacks but it your decision if you are buying them.

What matters is if you let the contractor pick your appliances they are only going to choose an appliance that will last at least 1 year, which is the normal warranty on a house. After that, you're on your own. You can also save money and NOT have the contractor supply your appliances. You then should choose appliances by their longevity, not the lowest price.
When I was helping my buddy on the weekends do a fixture set, he chose PRICE PFISTER, KOHLER, MOEN, and DELTA faucets. Badger Insinkerator garbage disposals, Maytag or Whirlpool dish washers, and Whirlpool and Kennmore washers and dryers. Fridges, LG and Whirlpool. If you want a cast iron tub, I would ONLY recommend a KOHLER. Toilets, KOHLER, AMERICAN STANDARD, and BRIGGS. Tub and shower valve, DELTA or MOEN. Same with the lav. Also, buy elongated toilets. Your arse will thank you. If your toilet comes with a ball cock valve and float, replace it with FLUIDMASTER. If you want more pressure from your shower head, remove the restrictor from the shower head. If you have hard water install a water softener. TRUST ME on this one! ESP. if your house is piped in copper! Your pipes, washer, fixtures, and clothes will thank you.

Im a Whirlpool fan too, does not matter as long as the look is there for you.
Dont over think it and dont overspend, the more electronics in your appliances, the more they will fail.
We go for just about but not quite their top of the line, also at the time, not sure about it anymore, Kenmore Elite.

Eventually we'll need one or more under-counter bar fridges for the basement, but at the moment it's just a rough-in. I'd love to get a big ice maker too, especially if it made ice pellets.

I put in a new kitchen a couple years ago and all the appliances need to match. Spending crazy money on a brand new kitchen why ruin it with mismatch appliances. It's like a brand new car with four different tires.

This is why al-quaeda hates us. Let's just throw out 4/5 appliances b/c one doesn't match, rip our kitchens down to the studs, and rebuild in the current fashion.

I try for the classic, which means white enamel appliances. I don't particularly like the crinkle finish-- it grabs dirt-- but it's either that or brushed stainless which shows fingerprints. Brands? hahahahahaha, but I did finagle a kenmore dishwasher right next to a same brand stove. This mostly poorly reflects on sears' ability to avoid coupon stacking slick-deals.

We are not a sticklers on matching... All our furniture is mismatched because we buy second hand and repaint/refinish it ourselves or buy what’s on sale.

Side note: We only buy Whirlpool appliances, which are made in America, and have had good luck with them.

Why would it matter if you have different brands of appliances? They're just appliances ... They serve their purpose/have their function and that's it. What brand of appliance I have is not something that's important to me at all. I have many serious matters in life to be concerned about, and an appliance brand is not one of them.

Why does it matter what oil or filter you use? They're all the same and good for as long as the sticker they put on the windshield says. No need to check the level between ocis.

OP was already buying a refrigerator, he wasn't throwing anything out to have a match.

Thankfully the last kiddo is away in college, so aside from a couple of 100 lb puppies it's our empty nest house.

I don't know if its code but when we remodeled the electrician wired our new appliances on dedicated circuits.

Fridge, freezer and even the over the stove micro has their own breaker.

Since we already had the walls torn out and plenty of service panel space it was a fairly easy job and not much extra cost. New construction would be no problem.
