Malay has been called "little San Jose". If you have ever been to the Penang region, you will see the same company names. There are many SJ companies that have transferred their manufacturing there. It's been going on for 10 years. Malaysia can handle oil filters.
I have used Union Sangyo made in Malaysia oil filters in the past and they were of decent quality.

Oil filters are made all over the world nowadays. I gave up. Just look inside with a flashlight and hope for the best.

Yes everyone seems to be moving down the cheap labor countries of the third world!
It started in the 80s. I remember Haro BMX bikes were made in the USA for a while then they moved it to Taiwan in 1984. Redline and Diamond Back also made bikes in Japan in 1985. And that's just the example of BMX.
I raced BMX using Kuwahara frames. They ran a little thicker at the welds but I didn’t crack frames.
