First I have seen one made there. Feels pretty heavy. Does premium guard have a plant there?

Interesting. Thanks for the post. @DannyM might have some insight. He’s taken the factory location deep dive.

PGI must love them in some applications. My Vietnamese made Microgard Select filter has louvers. 7.3 Powerstoke.

They look like they punch the whole width of the louver slot straight out from the center tube. They look like a mini-bridge, and don't have a separate up and down opposite pointing louver like most filters have.

The old Mobil 1 (M+H) c&p I did a long time ago, for a 7.3L app, shows up & down louvers so seems to be the design of the filter media taken into account or just simply tooling equipment. Just shows it all depends on who's manufacturing it. All one way perhaps is less costly to do.

The Purolator made louvers are individual back to back while the Baldwin style are open on both ends with a little roof, I think.
It could be the topic filter was copied from Baldwin?
One thing about good sales and profits you don’t go bankrupt and you can invest in new machinery and hire experienced people to supervise the manufacturing. Going bankrupt is saving money any way possible and probably works against sales.
