Had my first noticed GPF regeneration the other day. On a stretch of my commute, about where the engine comes up to temp in our weather, the fuel consumption started rising, where it always starts falling. At first I figured it could have been a head wind, but flags were hanging down, no wind at all.

I ended up with 15% more consumption before it started dropping. The car didn't do this the morning before or after btw.... But with the cold weather, dropping fuel consumption in general and low traffic at the time allowing for an efficient drive I can see how the GPF might not have gotten hot enough on it's own for a while.

Had another gpf regen, took about 10 minutes it seems. I didn't notice any change in engine note (but the engine is very quiet unless I give it a lot of throttle), so I assume the method for regen is running a richer mixture. Another way is retarding spark timing, but that would have an effect on noise.

If it happens again, I'm switching to sport mode and have some fun....

Changed the oil and filter today.

Mahle oc 614 oil filter used. holes instead of louvers, coil bypass spring.

Ravenol 10W-30 going in, same as what I put last time. There was no obvious fuel smell until i actually put the oil under my nose. I had run the car for 15-ish minutes before, to bring my wife and her friend to the train station.

11k oci. Didn't intend to go this long, but time and weather didn't permit an earlier change. No oil consumption noted, the level was where I left it last year.

No rattling whatsoever after starting, and although I didn't prefill the filter the engine started and ran like always.

1525 kg.

That's how much the MG weighs empty but with a full tank of gas. That's only 25kg more than my diesel Giulietta did, I haven't weighed the gasoline Giulietta but it should be a bit lighter.

I did buy the lower spec model because I'd rather have lightness over stuff I don't need, but I didn't think it would amount to 100kg lighter.

That brings the actual weight very close to a manual Ford Kuga III 1.5 ecoboost.

Just got back from vacation, took the MG HS, the wife and daughter to Austria and Slovenia. We rented an appartment near the Mur river on the Austria/Slovenia border.

We visited Maribor and Lake Bled in Slovenia. When we came back from Lake Bled we drove over the Loibl pass, and on the return trip we went over the Gaberl pass, the Triebener Tauern pass and after a lunch break in Liezen, we went over the mountains instead of using the highway tunnel. I don't know the name of that pass, but we reconnected with the highway afterwards.

The car didn't miss a beat, but the gearbox logic even in sports mode isn't ideal for this. I know versions exist with 4 modes rather then the 2 I have (normal/sport) so those could be better. When I let go off the gas before a hairpin the gearbox is likely to upshift.

The engine has very little engine brake so the car picks up speed quickly going down hill, and more braking is needed compared to the Giulietta (and it has less brake too).

the chassis did great, it hndled the often uneven roads well and there's very little roll of the body. The 2 bags that didn't fit in the trunk but were on the back seat went flying left and right but the car was very settled.

I don't have the power to keep up with the sports cars after turns (the gearbox isn't helping) but had no issues keeping up in the turns. The wife made a video on part of the Loibl pass, I will try to get that on youtube.

Also, on the autobahn I gave it some throttle for a few seconds, reached 202 kph but then had to slow down for a BMW left lane hogger and that was enough for the wife to suggest I slow down. The engine had more to give, it shifted to 6th gear gear just before right at 200 kph.
