Media Is Lying About Chinese EVs—And Here's the Proof

I don’t know if it is or isn’t but in what world is YouTube a reference or proof of anything?

I thought teslas lost a lot of range in the cold also?

Is the range loss due to cold or HVAC use?

Or is this just more YouTube confirmation bias?
Who knows. It's always the source. It's not YouTube. YT has anyone and everyone. As far as the video in the OP, she mentions JP Morgan and Deutche Bank as forecasting models.

I agree with you on source. Western banks that can only do business via half Chinese owned subsidiaries. No better than YouTube in this case.

There are lots of Chinese EV’s in Europe. We should have real world data at this point?

The Chinese will try to use their massive industrial capability and low costs to undermine our auto industry with low-cost, supposedly high tech decently styled EV's.

They dominate almost every market by undercutting and they monopolizing manufacturing.

I don't think this will work with cars though, they sure will try.

A vehicle is the 1st or 2nd largest/most important investment to many people. Rolling the dice on a Chinese product of this magnitude, with said stigma, is likely a no go with many people.

I was in Mexico City last summer for business. Saw quite a few EV dealerships for Chinese brands I’ve never heard of. Some were good-looking cars, others not so much.

General consensus on Chinese EVs from the folks I was meeting with, was they’re cheap cars but pets and service can be a real challenge.

And I kid you not, one dealer was offering a BOGO sale - Buy One, Get One free.

But you do know resale value will be awesome 😆 🤣

Chinese made EV are coming to Canada.
And I bet the official outlets will be full of praises of not only the cars, but the manufacturing prowess that China has and they will criticize the domestic brands. It's a pretty basic script, yet plenty will fall for it, just like with Ford CEOs recent opinion of the BYD EVs.

Because losers like our new NJ Govn, is STILL pushing to eliminate gas cars by 2035. Until that ends 100%, you're going to get pushback on EV's. And I'm happy to be one of those "pushers".................

So you're crying about it here annoying actual EV owners who are discussing EV usage and care like the oil sections of the site because you're misplacing your energy towards dealing with the situation?

It's not my fault and it's a real jerk move to take it out on people who have nothing to do with it. Write your elected officials. You're wasting your time here.

I do think there is a perpetual myth though about China and quality. Sure China does make a lot of cheap goods that we purchase at Target/Walmart among practically every other store in the country. But let's not also forget that the Apple CEO said they have their phones made in China due to the overwhelming manufacturing capabilities. Even high-end things we purchase here are often made in China. So what is stopping them from being able to make a quality product?

"Quantity of skill, type of skill and precision."

Vocational expertise is very deep in China.

China can make any quality of good, but matching quality=matching prices. If a chinese EV is priced the same as a US made Tesla and has the same quality, which do you buy?

The one that fought against the Axis powers in WWII. Definitely not the one with a CEO on the Axis side.

Cold weather performance is becoming a concern. Chinese models struggle more than expected. 30-40% loss in winter. Sales growth to weaken due to saturation. 50 Chinese brands could face closures.

Hundreds of automobile manufacturers went belly up in the USA alone over the years so out of all the China makes I can see more than 90% or more dropping to the wayside. They will eventually end up with their big 3 or big 6 in the near future. By all accounts the BYD cars are a heck of a good buy.
