Mazda LF05-14-302b cut open

Here's an OEM Mazda filter cut open. Ran for 6000 miles on my 2009 Mazda 3. A Mahle OC338 went back on

Edit: was looking at the picture of the ADBV and it clearly says FOMOCO... are Mazda oil filters repackaged Motorcraft filters nowadays? From reading around here, I thought OEM Mazda filters are made by Toyo roki (or at least they were)

Sure looks like Motorcraft ... even has a base end bypass valve. Did you buy that filter at a Mazda dealership?

Looks Purolator made, has a Purolator baseplate, just like a Motorcraft.

I did, so i'm very surprised to see FOMOCO stamped on this filter, might as well have gone and bought the FL-910s for cheaper. Anyways, bought a bunch of mahle's so good for a couple years in terms of filters

Yea, that's what I find as the equivalent to this Mazda OEM filter, unless it's a different Motorcraft FL number, but anyways, irrelevant at this point

I had a 2010 Mazda 3 for a short time. The first filter that I bought was OEM. Once I saw that it was a FL-910-S, I bought those for significantly less money from that point on.

2009 is pre SkyActiv. Ford still had a stake in Mazda.

Should it really surprise us that the filter was rebranded on the outside. It was sold as a Mazda filter with Mazda part number, but it's close to the FL910S. But we all know that Motorcraft only buys it and markets it from Purolator. So it's a rebranded rebrand. Big deal? Not really in my book.

Overall the filter looks good.
