Maybe Maxlife really does work?

I meant it doesn't smoke, smell or anything like that, we have a new PCV for it but don't have it on yet. Thanks guys.

I agree with you completely.
It is so much less costly to add a quart of oil now and then than it is to try to remedy consumption.
On the subject vehicle, gas mileage averages 28 mpg if you drive it like you stole it (which I did the first summer I had it) and 32 mpg if you drive it more gently (redline 1-2x/day, as opposed to at least a couple of gears from every standing start and wherever else possible).
More gentle use has probably also reduced oil consumption.

how is the consumption now? Have you considered a piston soak?

I don't think a piston soak would be of any use, since I have no reason to believe that the rings are sticking.
The oil remains a nice amber on the paper towel used to wipe the dipstick, which would not be the case were there much blowby.
The upcoming UOA of this oil will tell the tale, since Polaris includes nitration, along with oxidation and TBN standard, unlike some labs that give you none of the above for the same or more $$.
Consumption is now 2500/qt est, based upon oil level at 2K.
I'll hit 2500 on this fill next week, so we'll see how it looks.

If its PCV system related, all roads lead to the combustion chamber
Yep kcjeep, not sure where else you thought that oil going to end up.

LOL that brings back memories. The old breather pipe running down the side of the engine and straight out into the air underneath the car. Those were the days. Of course we thought we were doing the right thing back then, trying to stave off global cooling and all.

It wasn't all that far back that diesel engines still used this set up. I wish they still did. You should see the buildup of soot and sludge in the intake manifold of one that has a closed system when I tear it apart to do an inframe or headgasket

I agree!

Hey dont make fun of my 2 saturns , I love then , best 2 cars I ever had

Just poking fun! Saturns are fine cars with a cult like following. I have a car with the 3.4 liter headgasket killer. Don't you think i'd trade topping off my oil then tearing it apart??

What do you mean "had"? What happened to them?
