Well im up to 5500 miles on this oil. It is in my 91 gmc 1500 4.3 motor with 105000 miles. This oil is dark but not black like conventional is at my usual 5k oil change. SOO do i push it to 7500 miles without a used oil analysis or say the heck with it and dump it now? Im under the impression that this oil is 100% group 3.

Dood, it's A3-rated which means 7500 miles as per every owners manual that calls for A3. Clean 7500 is just a blend of cheap slovent-dewaxed G-III and PAO, MaxLife synthetic can go at least that. Run it up and do a used oil analysis.
What Audi Junkie said. If you can pull a sample without dumping the oil, you can do a used oil analysis now and based on the results, feel more confident to go the 7500 miles.

Alot depends on the condition/cleanliness of your engine & how much city driving or idling you do. Also, no way to tell about internal leaks without an analysis.

If the robust Maxlife synthetic oil is not contaminated by a leak - by the sounds of your driving habits & OCI change frequency, it should go 7.5K. That's the best passenger vehicle oil Valvoline produces (in my opinion). Where does it say anywhere that G3 can't go 7.5K under the right conditions?
With those driving habits run it to 7.5k. Most likely this is a highly additized grp III with Grp V added for extra the VI and "other" properties. I am about 1k miles ahead of you on my current fill and if my upcoming trip wouldn't put it well over 7500 miles I would run it further.
Grp III may not be an Official synthesized oil in many peoples rule book but it carries the oxidative resistance properties that nearly match a PAO.

My drive to work is 8 miles one way. Never get over 45 mph but i only have to stop 3 times. All my other driving is highway. Im under the impression that group 3 oil is just highly refined conventional oil which is not real syn in my book. I cannot say how clean the engine is but i have owned this truck for 10 years and changed oil every 3k until i discovered this site. I change the air filter once a year but i must admit that i prefer fram air filters to all others because of their fit. I use Purolater,ST or AC oil filters. Is maxlife 100% g3 or is their some g4 mixed in? I still have a rather large stash of this oil and havoline syn from the AZ closeout.
Hmmm, don't know. Posting a picture of the blot would help, but I am no expert in interpretation of blots. Also, I wonder if the second drop on the original blot confound the reading.
Well 6000 is coming up soon. Im about a 1/2 a quart low as the stick is down to the add mark. Hmm thinking i should dump it instead of topping off the oil. I did do a blot test on a biz card. The ring was a even color, the second drop on top ,which i applied a day later, just blended in with the other and did not leave a Dirt ring around the oil ring. Man what to do.

With cold weather starting to show up in many places, that gives you a sensible option to replace it now. I'm doing the same thing today using a home mix of 15w40 Delo 400, Havoline 5W-20, five ounces of VSOT & 4.5 oz of LC. Good to go until April 1st.
locomotive, 7500 Mile OCI on Val Syn MxLife should be no problen in your application IMO.
My '96 CrownVic w/ 146k miles just finished a 6200 mile OCI on the same stuff. I would have gone longer, but I had Mobil 1 5w30 itching to go in for the first time from the PB B3G3Free coupons.
My "new to me" '95 GMC K1500 w/ 350TBI and 157k miles has fresh ValMaxLife Syn 5-30 and AC Delco filter. It will go for a 6k-7.5k mile OCI with filter change at 3k'ish miles.
Top off and go another 1000-1500 miles.
If "conventional" MaxLife has 10-18% PAO, then the syn version is probably Add'd up GrpIII + PAO like bryan said.
