I really, really wish they had synthetic Maxlife in this part of Canada.

I added the date b/c thats the most current data I could find on Maxlife and they seem old. The dino is SM rated, and the syn is SL with the "protection" of SM and GF-4 specs.
The Civic is a '96 D16Y8, has had a few OCIs on M1 and is currently on Penz Plat. It consumes oil at varying rates, and I don't get the chance to check it often enough to establish a trend or xQuarts/miles data. Just the other day it was down ~.75qt after ~2k miles, but other OCIs it seems to loose less than a .5qt/5k. I figure its a good candidate for free Maxlife for sure.

I thought those were great TBN numbers for a PCMO.

As you can see the Maxlife Syn is a thick 30w, which probably helps achieve those impressive specs. I also picked up 5qts of "dino" Maxlife (supposedly has 8-22% PAO) to drop my Cst down with a blend of Maxlife syn/dino. I'll use it during my summer OCI and see if it affects MPG at all. I'm also hoping it will decrease consumption in my GFs civic.
Paul I agree with you. This like a good oil. Some are better.

I have yet to locate any around here too. I'm anxious for somebody to pour it into their engine so we can get some insight.

EXACTLY! Since when is 10 considered a low TBN (or 8 in a dino oil)??!
Geno, No there is not. It is not defined in this API Engine Oil Classification Chart.
UPDATE: Valvoline has released new spec sheets. The Maxlife Conventional stayed the same, but Maxlife Synthetic changed for SM rating:
TBN dropped to 7! I think I'll try and find ML Syn in SL when I go pick some up.
