I saw an ad in the paper today for MaxLife oil filters. They were two filters $9 at Pep Boys. Who makes these filters? I find it interesting that they have hit the market at the same time as the the new M1 filters.

Purolator. I think it says "Engineered by Purolator" on the box.

I'm currently using the Maxlife filter on two vehicles:
My wife's '97 Expedition 4.6L w/114k miles
My mother in law's '02 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L w/47k miles.
As others have stated, the filters appear to be re-badged Purolators. On both of the vehicles listed above, the filters seem to be doing their job just fine.
At each vehicle's next oil change, I will be cutting these Maxlife filters open, just to make sure there's no funny business going on inside them.
The ONLY reason I'm using the Maxlife filter on these two vehicles is because they were F.A.R. recently at Advance Auto Parts.
