Marques reviews a Chinese EV

On the contrary actually. Due to their real estate bubble collapsing they are trying to prevent their RMB from free falling right now.

Why do you think they are buying so much gold? Why do you think there is a withdraw limit on their own people inside China? Why do you think the black market smuggling rate to convert RMB in China to USD in a foreign country cost 20% service fee to the launderers?

Many of their exports are really just to break even and move money out of China. Unfair sure, but it is more of a money collapse prevention issue instead of intentionally trying to tank their own currency.
How do Chinese exports move money out of China???

They ship the good and get paid and they don’t reshore the money. They keep it outside China. This is why the Chinese government is flipping out about US sanctioned stabelcoins. Makes it easier.
That maybe makes sense, but I would note again that their trade surplus just reached its all-time high and is on a rapid upward trajectory, so this strategy can't be universal... and not the strategy by which the country has purchased real holdings around the world ie. with cash in the (Chinese) bank.

Likely shilling for them. China pays a lot of influences to "review' their stuff or come and visit the country and praise it.
Dude has 18M followers on YT for a reason, lack of integrity is not that reason.

These cars are a curiosity to a lot of us. He doesn't have to take a bribe to get people interested. Is he entitled to compensation to give his opinion? Absolutely.

I am guessing only a small percentage of the export funds are kept out of country. Most of them are from large western partnerships - ie foxconn and Apple which need to be repatriated to continue producing goods. The point being that wealthy Chinese want to get their money (and their children) out of China at all costs. Thats the telling part.

But yes, trade surplus at an all time high. But goods inflation is only up 1.5% over the last year - far less than inflation overall. So someone is sucking up that cost other than the consumer. Thats interesting in itself. The CCP only does what's best for the CCP, which likely isn't good for us, but also may not be good for the average Chinese person either.

The CCP is very punitive towards consumers in China. That's why there was a real estate bubble... massive savings but nowhere to put it. That money fueled the real estate bubble, which has burst in spectacular fashion. So the CCP doubled down and shifted investment to exports.

It keeps the renminbi depressed, which makes imports more expensive for people in China. The massive surplus production capacity is what has caused deflation. Insufficient demand within Chinese borders means all the extra goods are sent overseas.

It was one big commercial for this car and their accessories. You can’t make his shilling more obvious than that.

And reading the YT comments on that vid, it’s all “go China” stuff. CCP clearly knows what they’re doing.

So your saying his 18M followers are CCP faithful following the script? I could totally believe that. Most people don't have a clue how much they try to manipulate the media / social networks.

Not necessarily true, but they may be just useful idiots. And this youtuber may very well believe he was doing a car "review", although since he had not even a single negative thing to say about this vehicle, I would say they gave him the talking points and he followed them to the letter.

But mix in die hard followers, people that see subscriber count and equal it to integrity and sprinkle in some bots in the comments section and you have a positive narrative that grows with each view.

Just look at this thread.

I believe Marques Brownlee does a pretty fair and accurate job of reviewing electronics and cars. But he makes money on clicks, and no one is right all the time.

I might have missed it in these pages of posts.
With my very limited knowledge, it seems like reviews on this car are very good.

I’m not sure someone crashing the car on a race track and complaining about the brakes pertains to anything about me driving on the interstates in the USA or around town in Wilmington, North Carolina.🙃
The majority of American dont care where a car is produced as long as it delivers the performance and options they want at the best price

I would agree with some others that there is a reason we do not want Chinese vehicles here.
We can’t compete

Why is it so hard to imagine that a person can have a YouTube following AND true feelings about a product at the same time?
Well, I'm going by what this youtuber posted for us to see, you on the other hand seem to be under the impression that you know what's inside that guy's head.

I've watched some of his phone reviews in the past and he always has some critique about any product. He literally had nothing negative to say about this vehicle. That's pretty sus to me and probably to a lot of others.

I guess I'm not a member of the crowd who thinks anything that's on YouTube is disingenuous and crooked. I will never understand the hatred toward YouTube. Is it jealousy? Tribal mentality? I don't know.

At the end of this video with the car in question, he DID say there's nothing new or ground breaking going on here. It's nothing that can't be reproduced by any other company. They've just managed to combine a lot of good features into one vehicle. To me that isn't pandering or shelling at all. Sounds like a totally normal take on the matter. A very realistic view of the car. Probably the same view I'd have if I reviewed the car.

LOL, then by your logic, I'm not a member of the crowd who thinks anything that's on youtube must be true and authentic.
