Many new surprises today. Only needed other things so no purchases yet but i'll be buying the new valvoline hdeo's and 20w-50 once I use up my stash. Have over 40 quarts to get through still. A benefit of overbuying oil is that I get antsy to use something else so I change more frequently and have been doing 2-4k intervals just to plow through it. Was here just 2 days ago for meds and none of these were here and given that they're all stocked no one's been here yet. Almost didn't swing by since 2 days isn't much but I was bored.

The new Mobil 1 Advanced Clean oils hit the shelves at what I suspected would be a $10 discount from the $39 parts stores were scamming.

Valvoline RP atf is here and for not that much. I thought a gallon would easily be $35 if not $39.

First I've seen the new 20k Pennzoil Ultra Platinum here. Went from being an oil that wasn't known for extended drains to now claiming 20k. Guess people didn't want to buy it as much when mobil and castrol claimed those numbers and didn't see as much value. So I can't blame pennzoil for playing the rating game.

The 20w-50 version disappeared for a while I think 3 years but finally came back and is SQ for what it's worth. Tempted to use this instead of 15w-40 at least for one run then I'll switch back to thin 15w-40.

Edit - Forgot this. New valvoline hdeo's are here. Really like the FS just wished they knocked some bucks off. Lowest ccs compared to other off the shelf hdeos but still has a low vii and low 8% noack with 4.3 hths being the highest i've seen. Has 1240zn and 1100ph but is somehow under 1% saps?. They also have a conventional but not in stores just these two.

I didn't know they started Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF fluid! That's an interesting product. Could be good or bad...ha! Our local Walmart has the other stuff I believe. I don't remember if they got the HDEO in yet or not though. Good update to see what's out in the wild! Thanks

The Valvoline diesel is weird because they released the conventional synthetic blend and full synthetic but it looks like they erased the conventional from existence now. I can't find a single image of it any info or the PDF anymore but I did download the PDF for it and the others.

HDEO has gotten more stringent & competition has heated up. It's why we saw Chevron dump their blend as an example.

True but it had the current ratings like the others. I think the conventional was priced at 12.97 last and only time I saw it on WM.com. I wonder if they just wanted to push everyone to a tier higher for more margin now that the brand is getting more popular. Maybe they believe they can command a little more and not have to compete at the bottom. I wonder if the daily protection may go away leaving just the syn blend even though the conventional meets SQ.

Speculation: I believe since PC-12 is early 2027 (in 1 year) they're probably positioning for the change on the lower tier products?

Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF piqued my interest. Pricing is decent and may pick up a jug for my Hyundai. I also like it because they claim compatibility with Nissan Matic P.
Someone on here used maxlife in their 9 speed which uses that ulv grade stuff and it worked perfectly. The pds for rp atf even claims ford gm ULV which I believe. Same 5.9 kv100 as the other two. Don't know whether to use EP or RP for my 10 speed. See no reason to buy the cheaper maxlife for the transmission since fluid changes aren't easy.

Amongst diesel pickup bros the Cummins endorsement (paid) for the big V results in a committed customer base. (Even though the owner's manual endorses Rotella and factory fill is hotly debated.)

I wish they had a ULV version of the Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF.
i know hpl blue which is the thicker stuff was used in the 10 speed without issue. Someone with a mercedes 9 speed that uses 4.1 cst fluid being thinner than ford gm ulv also had no issues with 5.9 cst maxlife.
