I know MANNOL stuff isn't hugley available in the US but while looking at Liquimoly Ceratec I came accross this...

I've had varying degrees of success in engines with Ceratec. My daily driver can be a bit coarse at times with it's 3 cylinder diesel engine. I haven't used any addtitives in this engine yet so I ordered a bottle of this yesterday. Will update this when it drops to see if I notice anything.

MANNOL is a well know and one of the better cheap oils in the same class as Real, Gut&Günstig, etc, absolutely nothing special in their product line. This is just their version of another snake oil.

A lot of their oils seem to be PAO based and they make a lot of reference to ester base stocks a lot as well.

I used their Ester Diesel product in my last BMW 5 series which I'd only used Archoil 6900-D in and noticed no difference between the two additives. I then had about half a litre left of the Ester Diesel when I bought my current car so carried on using it. I must admit when I changed from the Ester Diesel to Dipetane I noticed a difference in running and not a good difference either. It was certainly more noisy and felt a little more lethargic on the Dipetane. Back using Ester Diesel now.

I changed my oil on Saturday and added the Mannol Ceramo Ester. My Vauxhall Insignia is 7 months old with 10k on the clock and this is the 3rd oil change (1st @ 1,000miles & 2nd @ 5,000miles). The 3 cylinder diesel engine in my car suffers quite badly with vibrations, especially and low revs and even worse when it's cold.

Initially I didn't notice any difference. However, I've covered about 300miles since and I'm almost certain I'm seeing some improvement. The most significant improvment seems to be on cold start. Usually the car shakes for 2 or 3 seconds until it gets settled on cold start but that seems to have gone away. This might be because I've gone from a 10w40 to a 5w30. However, the ambient temperatures are about 10°c in the morning currently and I'm not overly convinced there would be a massive difference in viscosity at these temperatures between the two oils. Generally though, the car seems to be slightly happier at lower revs and overall seems to have improved in the NVH department. I can't comment on fuel economy as my driving style and journeys are too varied and the car is phenomenal on fuel anyway.
